Get Involved
The mission of the MIT Sloan Real Estate Club is twofold: to bring together a set of MIT Sloan MBA students who share a common interest in Real Estate, and to promote networking and learning opportunities via contact with leaders in industry and academia.
Great connection. It is important to get away from MIT a bit and see what other people studying real estate are doing. Harvard has good contacts and brings in good speakers.
Graduate Student Council (GSC)
If the MIT/CRE has two people appointed to it, we get a $250 allocation for parties or renting vans, etc. Students sometimes use the funds towards a joint DUSP/CRE/TPP (Department of Urban Studies and Planning and Technology Policy and Planning) end of the semester party which is a great way to meet other people and have a lot of fun.
Presentations
Thought Leader Speaker Series is a speaker series organized by the Center that brings in leading industry professionals who focus on different segments within the real estate industry. Session topics may include Asset Management, Corporate Real Estate, Development, Acquisitions, and Institutional Users.
Research seminar luncheons are periodic lunchtime presentations given by leading industry professionals and academics regarding their ongoing, cutting-edge research. These are posted on our Events page
The Harvard Kennedy School and the MIT Sloan School of Management sometimes have interesting lunches. Our suggestion would be to look at all of the websites of the schools you are interested in early in a semester and put the dates in your calendar right away so you'll go.
Check to any Sloan Conferences that give a substantial discount. It is good to see how Real Estate fits into the bigger finance/venture capital "VC" world.
