Libraries at MIT
Rotch Library is the official library of the School of Architecture and Planning is located on the second floor of Building 7, and is the primary resources for MIT MSRED students. If you need to speak with someone directly, you can use the live chat function on their website, drop in to the library, or email them. The libraries will get back to you within 24 hours of your email request. Rotch has a good collection of real estate publications, maps, journals, databases, and other resources. Inter-library loans are excellent options as well that you can resource through the library website.
During orientation, you will receive a tour of the library and available resources. Though only a brief introduction, it's an excellent way to place-make for the upcoming year and ensure you're making the most of your time when it comes to academic research (and citations!)
All the libraries on campus are great and some are great for studying. The Dewey Library at Sloan is pretty quiet and appropriate for studying. Don't miss a trip to Barker Engineering Library at the top of dome in Blg 10. Take the elevator to the 5th floor.
Also, if you cross register for a Harvard class, make sure you get authorization to use their libraries. Harvard has a different system for every professional school. For the GSD library, you have to get a sticker when you register at their office. To get an authorized ID to the Widener Library (the main one) you have to get a form from Rotch for special borrowing privileges and take it over to Widener.
