Housing

MIT's Housing and Residential Services (HRS) is your best resource for on and off-campus housing options.

On-Campus Housing

All Housing Information will be sent by HRS to your MIT Email ONLY, ensure you are checking your MIT email so you do not miss any offers made.

If you do not receive a housing offer during the first or second housing allocation, there is a waitlist that opens in the summer.
Assignments offered from the waitlist are sent in late summer.

Off-Campus Housing

Visit the Off-Campus Web page for more information

Living off-campus is more expensive, but there are a lot of places both in Boston and Cambridge that are fairly convenient and accessible to campus. Most 12 month leases run from either August or September with a 30 or 60-day notice to landlords.

Students interested in exploring off-campus housing options in the Greater Cambridge area should visit www.mitoffcampus.com to view off-campus rental listings and other tenant resources.  Since only MIT students and staff have the ability to access this site, you must have your MIT account created and have installed MIT Certificates on your computer before you're able to view the listings.

If you do have a car, remember that campus parking is scarce. However, if you must drive, you can obtain a student-parking permit from the Parking Office located at E17-106 or online at: https://parking.hcp.mit.edu/index.html.
